Rayne McDonald thought getting into the Blood Coven was the hard part. But now there’s a new breed of trouble in town…and the former slayer and her vampire boyfriend may be the only ones who can stop it. Now that she’s an official vampire and full-fledged member of The Blood Coven, Rayne assumes her vampire slaying days are over. Sure, she doesn’t have any vampire powers, thanks to a mutated blood virus, but she and Jareth can go out in the sun, which is a pretty good trade-off. But just when Rayne’s starting to enjoy her afterlife, she’s contacted by Slayer Inc once again. It seems that a member of her high school’s football team has disappeared—and the powers-that-be think the cheerleaders had something to do with it. Now Rayne has to infiltrate the squad before the cheerleaders have a chance to sink their teeth into someone else…

Girls that Growl by Mari Mancusi is a great addition to the Blood Coven Vampires series.
This book continues this series in an excellent manner all the while expanding the universe even farther. Our lead, Rayne, grows as a character which is a nice change compared to many YA novels where our leads stay the same throughout the entire series.
Mari explores lycan within this book alongside Rayne’s character development. While this isn’t my favourite book out of the entire series (this is actually my least favourite, when I look back at all the books – including the new one), I feel like this book does it’s job – it moves the story forward so we can get to the next novels. Don’t be turned away by this book – yes, it’s not as great as the last two books but the following books get much, much better than this one. There always seems to be one book in a series that isn’t as great as the rest (there has to be, not all books can be perfect) and this book is it in this series. The previous and following books are definitely worth reading this book so you can get to all the adventure and romance we love.
There is more Sunny in this book, but the main focus is Rayne. It’s nice to see both girls have a bigger presence in this book!! There is also a bit more exploration of Jareth, for those who love him…
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Re-reading it was an excellent choice for me and I definitely suggest picking this book up!!
Five out of five stars.
This is the third book in this series, and although I don’t think that it was as good as the first two, it was still pretty good. I like that these series always ends off on a point that leaves you hanging and wanting to read the next book. They give away a little to make you interested, but they don’t tell you everything right away. Another thing that I really like about this book is that there is always something that the main character has to fix, or something she has learned about themselves. I know that this series switches between two twin characters, Sunny and Rayne, and I’m looking forward to reading more about Sunny, since only the first book has been about her. I like that the books are written in a funny way, so it’s easier to relate to and enjoy while reading. I would recommend these books to people who like reading young adult books, especially if they like reading fantasy. However, I think that while this book has a fantastical element, they are also related to real life in the way the main characters are brought up and they way they act and feel.
wow. i loved this book. teenage angst. it takes you back to high school and all the crap you had to put up with. i love the character of rayne she is awesome. she is vampire, plus vampire-slayer. wow. that is something. this book has everything. vampires, lycans, cheerleaders. when she cried i cried. she has anger issues, but she has alot to deal with as well. there’s mystery scary moments and romance. but it all comes out good in the end. wonderful book. i kinda of read in backwards order, this is the third one. but i am gonna read the other two back to back. and jan she comes out with the fourth one. and will be sure to pick it up.i dont know how you can read these books and not think about buffy. which is still my fav series and always will be.
Girls that Growl by Mari Mancusi is my favorite book so far in this series. The book’s focus is on Rayne McDonald. This one focuses on her adjusting on being a newbie vampire and don’t forget she is still the current Vampire Slayer. Her task on hand this time is to locate missing football players. Dark Goth Rayne must go undercover as a cheerleader to try to understand what is going on in the athletic department of high school. All while dealing with the vampire life, working on her love relationship with Jareth her soulmate vampire, she is about to meet a new supernatural being. Will she lose all that she has come to love in her life because of her quick temper and refusal to listen to common sense? Warning this book is going to leave you hanging and ready for book 4! thankfully Book 4 is out and ready for you to carry on to the next problem to face the twins.
The 3rd book in The Blood Coven Novel has Rayne who has (YES!!) gotten her wish in becoming a Vampire thanks to her Blood Mate Jareth. Rayne without any choice from Slayer Inc is being and I mean forced to become what would make any normal blood reded teenager happy. (Get it Blood Reded) LOL ..Rayne is given the mission to become wait for it.. wait for it.. (Cheerleader!!) I mean yeah I was friends with them when I was in school but having to dress up in those outfits “uggh” no way no how. Rayne’s mission is to become one and figure out why her local high school Cheerleaders like to growl. As in being a teenager and a vampire/ vamp slayer and dealing with her mom’s new boyfriend and losing her room and a boyfriend who is for so long had an allergy to sun is now thanks to Rayne getting sick and Jareth coming to the rescue and saving her life and all wants to do is play in the sun and hang ten and not spending quality time with her bad enough rayne is left to figure out what is up with hairy cheerleaders (yeah that was too funny when I read that part. Once Rayne figures out what is going on with her fellow team mates it is up to her and Jareth (well he is her blood mate!) to fix the problem and fast before the hair starts flying. Girls that Growl is just as good and funny as the 1st and 2nd books and Mari Mancusi books are always those LMAO stories and if you are reading by paperback or ebook making sure to take with you everywhere you go and you will notice people will start asking you what you are reading and you will be more then happy to tell them and suggest they start from book 1 and work their way up. Girls that Growl will make you laugh giggle and if you are like Rayne enjoy her smart remarks and also realize woman vamps from overseas can be some real asshats I wanted to pull my stake out too!! (Gotta read this book to know what I mean Yeah it was so funny I was cheering Rayne on and was giving Jareth looks that could kill!!)
