I am reading this as part of my preparation for being a team leader. The great thing about this book is that it doesn’t matter who you are “leading” (in my case, it’s generally children under the age of 5), the principles can easily be adapted to your situation. It is very simple, and very profound.

Three statements that sum up this work.

“Leaders take a little greater share of the blame and a smaller share of the credit.”

“Leaders mold opinions instead of following opinion polls.”

“Leaders follow a moral compass that points in the right direction regardless of the trends.”

Great book by John C. Maxwell

The author describes the the qualities and the process you need to go through in order to become a true leader (no matter what your title/ job is). Very clearly illustrated with examples, thus making these principles very applicable. The first quality he starts with is “integrity” which, in my opinion, is the most important.

Also really enjoyed the quotes from poetry.

A lot of what Maxwell writes about is commen sense, but the way he approaches the subject of leadership helps you think things through in a more pragmatic way than what you may have originally. His understanding of human behavior is second to none – God has truly gifted him. There is an art to leadership and Maxwell has mastered it.

I chose to read this book for a class while in graduate school in Philadelphia. I read the description and reviews and was instantly interested in the content. After reading this book, I was able to view everything differently. Though it is generally for professional reasons, I was able to apply many of the concepts to my personal and educational life. Excellent, Motivating and Inspiring!!
