Description:

E-Myth \ ‘e-,’mith\ n 1: the entrepreneurial myth: the myth that most people who start small businesses are entrepreneurs 2: the fatal assumption that an individual who understands the technical work of a business can successfully run a business that does that technical work

Voted #1 business book by Inc. 500 CEOs.

An instant classic, this revised and updated edition of the phenomenal bestseller dispels the myths about starting your own business. Small business consultant and author Michael E. Gerber, with sharp insight gained from years of experience, points out how common assumptions, expectations, and even technical expertise can get in the way of running a successful business.

Gerber walks you through the steps in the life of a business—from entrepreneurial infancy through adolescent growing pains to the mature entrepreneurial perspective: the guiding light of all businesses that succeed—and shows how to apply the lessons of franchising to any business, whether or not it is a franchise. Most importantly, Gerber draws the vital, often overlooked distinction between working on your business and working in your business.

The E-Myth Revisited will help you grow your business in a productive, assured way.

Best business book I’ve read in a long time. Everything was so applicable to my company – talking about the different phases a business goes through and the different types of workers you have. Put a lot of things into perspective. Highly recommend!

Required reading for anyone running a small business. Or a large one probably. Skip over the personal bits, I give the author a pass for a recurring awkward dialogue between the himself and a female owner because it was written 20 years ago, the content is still relevant.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I got a good understanding of what it takes to own your business. I loved the way the author explained his points through discussions with Sarah. This was very helpful and instilled what he was trying to say. Very clever.

Other than the annoying story/narrative device about the pie girl this is a very useful read for anyone who owns their own business.

  1. Virtually all of whatever you point out happens to be astonishingly accurate and it makes me ponder why I hadn’t looked at this with this light previously. This article truly did turn the light on for me personally as far as this subject matter goes. But at this time there is just one factor I am not too cozy with so whilst I make an effort to reconcile that with the actual core theme of the position, let me see exactly what all the rest of your readers have to say.Nicely done.

  2. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
